World Cup 2010 Statistics and facts after first round of matches

World Cup 2010 started 5 days ago , Friday June 11th and, so far, each team has played one game.

This is the first time in World Cup history when no player scores more than 1 goal after the first round of matches in the group stage.

When it comes to scoring goals this World Cup edition is very poor so far with only 25 goals scored in 16 matches ( 1.56 average goals per match )

Only one team scored and lost the game so far ( North Korea 1-2 against Brazil ).

We have 10 teams that won their first match : Korea Republic, Argentina, Slovenia, Ghana, Germany, Netherlands, Japan, Brazil, Chile, Switzerland and of course 10 teams that lost their first match : Greece, Nigeria, Algeria, Serbia, Australia, Denmark, Cameroon, Korea DPR, Honduras, Spain

Only 4 teams scored more than 1 goal : Germany - 4, South Korea, Netherlands and Brazil - 2 each.

Brazil - North Korea was the coldest match in World Cup history. At the start it was 2 degrees Celsius and during the match it went below 0.

For the first time in World Cup Honduras achieved an historical distinction by including brothers Jerry, Johnny, and Wilson in their squad. They became the first trio of brothers to represent a single nation in the World Cup.

One of the funnies things so far at this edition is this banner from Brazil - North Korea

In my opinion this World Cup hasn't been very spectacular so far with most of the teams trying not to lose the first match but now that the second round of matches will start in just about one hour I believe teams will open up a little bit more ( especially those than haven't win the first match ).

The biggest surprise so far is Spain - Switzerland 0-1 with the European champions needed to win the next to matches in the group against Honduras and Chile to make sure they pass the group stage. Also England - USA 1-1 , Japan - Cameroon 1-0 and Slovakia - New Zealand 1-1 can be considered semi surprises.
