Exactly 100 days before the beginning of World Cup 2010 Spain are considered by many specialist as number 1 favourites to win it. Also , all the betting agencies place Spain above all the other countries.
Pros :
- Number 1 in FIFA World Rankings
- A team build around Barcelona's structure ( Barcelona the best team in the world in 2009 when they won everything ) with Xavi , Iniesta , Puyol and Gerard Pique. Other world class players including Casillas, David Villa, "El Nino" Torres, Xavi Alonso, Fabregas etc.
- European Champions in 2008 ( photo )
- Qualified to WC in an impressive fashion : 10 games, 10 wins, 28 goals scored and only 5 goals conceded.
- Del Bosque is a very experienced coach when it comes to dealing with a squad full of superstars.
Cons :
- Among favourites at every World Cup, Spain has failed to win anything ( their best result was in 1950 when they finished 4th )
- Inability to take initiative against strong teams like Brazil, Italy, Argentina, Germany, England.
- Aversion to play against physical, sometimes 'dirty' teams.
- They will face a very strong opponent in the second round ( Brazil, Portugal or Ivory Coast )
- Lost against USA in the last official competition ( Confederation Cup 2009 )
- Pele's favourites to win the World Cup ( Pele has always failed to give good predictions ). Also Maradona said : "A favourite has never won the World Cup..."
Spain's best XI :
Casillas - Sergio Ramos, Puyol, Pique, Capdevilla - Xavi Alonso, Xavi, Iniesta, Silva - Torres, Villa

8 April 2010 at 15:45Less to Brazil ( we have not played) We've beaten all in the last 2 years.
Go Spain .
I know but most of those games were friendlies and they are not very relevant. At this point, the most important thing for Spain is to recover Torres, Iniesta and Fabregas. Then they could really hope for a very succesful campain in the summer.
22 April 2010 at 19:48I wouldnt be pissed if spain won. Go barca!!
22 April 2010 at 22:54Ne neither. I would actually be quite happy if they win. By the way, Barca is in really big trouble in Champions League. They need a perfect game next Wednesday if they wanna qualify to the final again ( lost 3-1 to Inter Milan this Tuesday ).
23 April 2010 at 00:44hmmmmm Maradona said that the team that wins is never the favorite blah blah, he is crazy and he needs to come off drugs. Brazil is ALWAYS the favorite and they have 5 world cup...I dont see teams like Colombia win. lol lol OMG im so horrible.
